The Options Tab: AltaPoint's Power is Flexibility
Let's take a look at one of the tabs available under Practice Set-up.
Log off After:
This field is related to HIPAA. You should enter a number in this field
between 1 and 999. This will cause any user to be logged out of AltaPoint
if their workstation is left idle for the number of minutes specified in
the field.
Local area code and Outside line:
If you will be using AltaPoint to dial any direct calls you would enter
your area code and any number needed to get an outside line into these
two fields.
Select Modem:
This field will display all the modems installed on your local workstation.
You would choose from this list which modem you wish to use to dial direct
from AltaPoint.
Schedule:
There are two choices in this field:
Lock records by day
Lock records by appointment
For single user systems please choose Lock
records by day. For Multi user or Client server installations please choose
Lock Records by Appointment. If you are using a Multi user or Client Server
installation of AltaPoint and choose Lock Records by Day then only ONE person
will be able to make appointments on any given day.
Inventory Costing:
There are two choices in this field:
Standard Cost
Average Cost
If you are going to use the Inventory features of
AltaPoint then please consult your CPA about the recommended Inventory costing
method to use.
Credit Card Processor, Credit Card Path and Merchant Number:
These fields are only used if you have purchased and installed the AltaPoint
Credit Card Processing Module. Please see the Credit card Processing Section
for detailed instructions on the use of these fields.
Path for Documents and Document Number:
These two fields are used with the Attach Document feature within each
Patient record. We recommend that you establish a folder inside you AltaPoint
data folder to hold attached documents this will make backup and restore
much simpler. For example Z:\documents in a Multi User setup or C:\alta\documents
in a default single user instal.
Auto Number Patients:
Checking this box tells AltaPoint to automatically assign Patient ID's
to new Patients entered into the system. AltaPoint will take the first
4 letters of the last name and append a 6 digit code. For example, the
first Alan Cunningham would be CUNN000000 the second Cunningham would be
CUNN000001. You can manually assign Patient ID's if you leave this box
unchecked.
Auto number Addresses:
When this check box is checked AltaPoint will automatically assign CODE
numbers for all the addresses in the system. AltaPoint will use the first
4 letters of the name and append a 6 digit code. So the first Blue Cross
in the system would be BLUE0000000 the second Blue Cross would be BLUE000001
ect . Leaving this box unchecked allows you to enter your own codes.
Multiple Patient Windows:
Checking this box will allow the user to open multiple Patient windows.
So you can view the information for more than 1 Patient at a time.
Multiple Billing Windows:
Checking this box allows the user to bill for multiple Patients at the
same time.
Use Enter Key for next field:
Checking this box allows the Enter key to be used as well as the Tab key
