Components

The Brain Computer

The Brain can double as a Workstation.
700mhz P-3 Minimum
512MB RAM Brain / 256MB RAM Workstation
Windows 2000
20G Hard Drive
CD-ROM
Floppy Disk Drive
2 available serial ports
10/100 Fast Ethernet

Workstation Computer

We recommend the same specifications be used for all computers.
Workstation computers do not need CD-ROM or floppy if Windows file sharing is used during installation.
Workstation computers can function with 64MB RAM.

Touch-screen Monitors

Dinerware has been tested with ELO and Microtouch.
1024x768 minimum screen resolution - usually this is 14" or bigger.
Most 12.1" displays are 800x600 and will not work with Dinerware. If you are ordering a smaller screen, be sure it supports the required resolution.
Flat Panel or CRT will work.

Receipt Printers

Epson or 100% compatible serial interface printers.
Printer-connected cash drawer (optional).
Dinerware currently supports one cash drawer per Workstation.
USB to Serial adapters work great for adding additional printers.

Integrated Card Processing

Dinerware interfaces with PC-Charge 5.0 which must be purchased separately.
Installation and configuration of PC-Charge software is supported by the manufacturer.
Dinerware supports "keyboard wedge" card readers.
The PC-Charge license agreement requires a multi-user license if there will be a card reader at more than one Workstation.

Network

Dinerware works over the standard TCP/IP networking that is installed by default with Windows 2000.
Multiple-terminal setups require use of a "broadband router" device with built in "DHCP server." These are inexpensive and readily available at computer and office retailers.
