Furthermore, the LS800 incorporates the latest 1.8" hard-disk drives, not only resulting in a thinner and lighter system, but also more durable because these advanced drives have been shown to reduce the risk of shock-induced failures approximately by half.
Although the LS800's slate design is optimized for highly mobile workflows it also functions as a powerful desktop system. Using the optional MobileDock dock, the LS800 can be instantly converted to a desktop configuration with a large high resolution monitor, full size keyboard, and a host of other peripherals attached.
Equipped with the latest low-voltage Intel Mobile Pentium M 753 processor, the latest 915GMS chipset, and 400MHz DDRII memory, the LS800 exhibits surprisingly good performance in a desktop environment.
For connectivity that knows no bounds, the LS800 comes equipped not only with integrated Intel Centrino 802.11a/b/g wireless connectivity, which can easily be upgraded to an Atheros Super AG TM card, but also with integrated Bluetooth and IrDA connections. To connect to an external display, the LS800 includes a standard VGA connector. In addition to two USB ports for connecting to peripherals and access to other expansion options, the LS800 also offers a new industry-standard Secure Digital (SD) slot for greater expansion opportunities.
Of course, the LS800 also incorporates Motion's innovative Speak Anywhere TM audio system, which includes dual array microphones. A huge benefit to mobile users, Speak Anywhere enables users to effectively record audio notes, engage in voice control and system command or capture dictated text regardless of the noise level of the environment. With the ability to configure the audio input area to narrow, medium or wide focus, users can cancel out unwanted background noise while the system automatically cancels out system speaker feedback.
